The Funny Bone Improv Studio is a 90-minute workshop for anyone who loves to laugh, wants to try something new or wants to sharpen their stage skills. Each workshop begins with a group warm-up, then moves into improv games, scenes and performance work. Led by coach Diane Kettering, whose supportive workshop culture is a big part of the experience, with 10 years of improv coaching and training with Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade. 18+ | No experience needed Diane is the founder of Echo CATT Comedy and has coached improv for more than a decade. She trained with Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade. She has brought improv into all kinds of rooms, from a small veterinary clinic to universities, corporate teams, and the U.S. military. Some of the people she coaches are experienced performers. Others have never stepped on a stage. The words heard most after a workshop are welcoming, supportive, and fun. Participants talk about feeling comfortable enough to try, encouraged to go a little further, and surprised by what they were capable of doing. Diane also teamed up with a psychotherapist to study what improv does beyond making people laugh. Together, they found a clear connection between improv, brain stimulation, and improved mental health. That became Diane’s why, although she did not know it at first. She understood it when she watched the proof happen right in front of her. It was no longer just about improv. It was about what improv was doing for people. That same purpose led Diane to offer workshops that teach caregivers how to use improv when communicating with people experiencing memory loss. Diane tells everyone upfront that they are going to be nudged out of their comfort zone, hate it, and can't wait to do it again. “You do not have to walk in funny or quick on your feet. You just have to walk in. We can build the rest.”
